From Archaeology to Everyday Craft
Tony, our historical advisor and tool maker, draws on years of archaeological and teaching experience to help:
- Interpret spindle whorls, needles and tools from excavations.
- Recreate forms that feel authentic in the hand.
- Design workshops that bring ancient processes to life.
Recreating Iron Age Textile Processes
In our Fleece to Fibre workshops, participants can:
- Explore raw fleece similar to that used historically.
- Experiment with natural dyes inspired by traditional methods.
- Spin with whorls based on real finds.
- Weave on simple looms to understand how cloth was made.
This work informs how we design and make our textile tools today.
